IS THIS "GOOD CUT" GOOD ENOUGH?

A good deal on a diamond with a cut rated "good" seems like a good idea--or maybe it's not.

Of the Four C's, cut accounts for 50 percent of a diamond's price and 100 percent of its sparkle and fire.

Ten 1-carat diamonds that are G color and SI1 clarity will each appear differently depending on the cut. Those diamonds that are cut well will exhibit sparkle, fire and true beauty, while the diamonds that are not cut well will be dull, regardless of their color, clarity and carat weight.

This diamond received only a good cut grade. Its depth percentage is 65.2 percent, which means it's slightly deep, which in turn means it will look slightly smaller than a 0.90-carat diamond should appear. This also means that a certain amount of light will not reach its full potential.

Never purchase a diamond that actually appears smaller than its carat weight should reflect!
