Hillary received her Graduate Gemologist degree in 1991 from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), the world's largest and most respected nonprofit institute of gemological research and learning. She is also a former instructor of diamond grading, pearls and colored gems at the GIA, whose educators are regarded as the world's foremost authorities in gemology.

Hillary is also the former president of a wholesale/retail jewelry establishment, where she was responsible for buying, selling and appraising diamonds and gems, as well as designing custom jewelry.

She is currently a consultant for leading jewelry stores, educating and training store associates on how to grade and price gems, as well as detect gem enhancements.

In addition, Hillary offers a seminar for consumers on how they can protect themselves when purchasing a diamond.
